ILP Conference Update

Charles Endirect at ILP conference 2025The Institution of Lighting Professionals’ annual conference is always a popular fixture in the Charles Endirect calendar. This year was no exception … we were delighted to be a headline sponsor at the Lighting Live Annual Conference 2025.

Charles Endirect was a key exhibitor and Alan Read, our National Sales Manager, delivered a talk to conference delegates titled “Electrical Safety for Streetlighting”. His presentation outlined the key safety benefits of installing isolators to break and isolate a circuit safely (see our article, “Switch to Isolate”).

CEL team at ILP 2025Other team members at the Glasgow event were Andrew Jackson (Sales & Marketing Director), Andy Scott (ASM North England & Scotland) and Chris Knight (Technical Support Engineer). We were pleased to invite several guests to the event held on 18 – 19 June. Everyone had a great time meeting old and new industry contacts and discussing sector trends and developments.

A key theme of the conference was the expiry of Private Finance Initiatives (PFIs). A significant wave of contract expirations begins in the UK this year. This means that many public sector assets, like schools, hospitals, and roads, which were originally developed and maintained under PFI contracts, will be handed back to public ownership. This is set to have a big impact on the streetlighting sector.

Exiting President Perry Hazell of London Borough of Southwark handed presential duties to the incoming President James Duffin of Enerveo. James has a busy year ahead, saying: ‘One of the big things that will change over the coming year is the way that the membership interacts with the Institution through our digital portals … Listening to the membership, which we’ve shown through the change back to Regions, will be another ongoing priority … For me, it is three words: continue, communicate, and improve.’

“Everyone at Charles Endirect would like to thank Perry for his hard work during his presidential year, also the centenary year of ILP,” said Andrew Jackson. “We congratulate James on his appointment and wish him an enjoyable and successful presidential year.”
